Under a sunny ceiling of cool and breezy skies, the East York 12U ‘AA’ Bulldogs defeated Toronto Playgrounds 12U ‘AA’ 11-5 in a six inning Toronto Baseball Association (TBA) 12U ‘AA’ Rep Game this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2.

East York 12U ‘AA’ threatened in the top half of the first inning following a leadoff single by Lucas (7).

After East York 12U ‘AA’ batter Rory (16) popped the pitch in the air, TP 12U ‘AA’ catcher Bear (13) would subsequently rush in like a gazelle to make a super barehanded catch to ring up the first out in the the top of the first inning. On the play, Bear would follow up with a bullet throw down to first base to erase a wayfaring Bulldogs baserunner and tally a sweet 2-3 double play for TP.

During the Bulldogs next at bat, Rory (16) hit a quicksilver pop up at the plate which TP 12U ‘AA’ catcher Bear (13) reeled in ball with his barehand to ring up a highlight reel first out. Noticing that East York baserunner Lucas had wandered afar from first, Bear made a lightning toss down the baseline to erase Lucas on an exquisite 2-3 double play!

TP 12U ‘AA’ starter Ellis (44) cleaned up with a lineout to end the Bulldogs unrest in the first frame.

In the bottom of the first inning, Toronto Playgrounds jumped out to an early 2-0 lead.

After a leadoff walk, Wyatt (1) rattled the East York defense with a pair of debonair steals that advanced him to third base.

Following a walk by Dylan (8) that put two TP runners on the dancefloor, Avi (2) hit into a 4-3 groundout that brought Wyatt home with the opening run of the proceedings.

With two runners aboard, Avi (2) slashes a 4-3 groundout that allowed TP 12U ‘AA’ to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.

Hudson (18) muscles a 6-3 groundout to bring home TP 12U ‘AA”s second run in the first frame.

After Dylan stole third, Bear drew a walk that put two swans on the lake. Hudson (18) followed with a 6-3 groundout that moved Bear to third base , and allowed Dylan to motor home with another TP 12U ‘AA’ run.

Ratcheting up the pressure on the Bulldogs, Eli (7) and Wilt (3) garnered back to back two out walks to load the bases for TP.

Reelin’ and rockin’, East York 12U ‘AA’ starter Hudson (21) chalked up a strikeout to leave the bases loaded and extinguish the TP 12U ‘AA’ insurgency in the first frame.

Putting the pedal to the metal, East York 12U ‘AA’ answered back in lickety-split fashion with a ferocious seven run fusillade in the top of the second to take a 7-2 advantage.

Leading off the inning, Arley (4) and Brayden L (11) cranked back to back doubles that set the table for the Bulldogs.

With the bases still jammed tighter than rush hour traffic on Lakeshore Boulevard East, Elliot (72) delivered a clutch two RBI double that advanced Keira to third, and allowed Brayden L and Cole to come home with the Bulldogs go ahead runs.

For the pièce de résistance, Lucas (7) capped off the Bulldogs big inning with a two RBI single that allowed Andrew and Brayden B to motor home with two more East York runs.

For the icing on the cake, Lucas (7) cranks a two RBI single to cap off East York 12U ‘AA”s seven run rally in the second inning.

With two outs, East York 12U ‘AA’ baserunner Lucas (7) eludes the tag of TP 12U ‘AA’ third baseman Dominic (24) to complete a daring headfirst theft of third in the second inning.

With true grit, TP 12U ‘AA’ starter Ellis tallied a strikeout, pop out and a groundout to extinguish the Bulldogs coup d’état in the second frame.

Licking their wounds, TP 12U ‘AA’ replied quickly with a two spot in the bottom portion of the second inning to trim the margin to 7-4.

Following back to back walks by Dominic (24) and Ellis that put two ducks on the pond, Wyatt delivered a one out two RBI triple that brought Dominic and Ellis homeward with a pair of TP runs.

In a workmanlike effort, East York 12U ‘AA’ starter Hudson (21) threw two ready steady innings versus TP 12U ‘AA’.

Unfazed, East York 12U ‘AA’ starter Hudson racked up a line out, fly out and a groundout to subdue the TP 12U ‘AA’ putsch in the second frame.

Not to be outdone, East York 12U ‘AA’ added three bitcoins to their portfolio in the top of the third inning to extend their upper hand to 10-4.

After a leadoff hit by Arley, Brayden L launched a double that put two Bulldogs on the base paths.

With true grit, TP 12U ‘AA’ starter Ellis (44) threw three proficient innings against East York 12U ‘AA’.

In a nitty gritty effort, TP 12U ‘AA’ starter Ellis chalked up a groundout and two strikeouts to diffuse the East York 12U ‘AA’ rebellion in the third frame.

Refusing to go quietly into the night, Toronto Playgrounds scored a run in the bottom of the third inning to close the gap to 10-5.

After a leadoff single by Bear, Eli and Cole (23) garnered respective walks to load the bases.

Bear (13) strokes a leadoff single to ignite the TP 12U ‘AA’ offense in the bottom of the third inning.

Julian (26) followed with a bases loaded RBI walk that allowed Bear to shuffle home with a TP run.

With the bases loaded, East York 12U ‘AA’ reliever Brayden L vanquished the TP 12U ‘AA’ rally bid with a a pop out and two strikeouts in the third frame.

Throwing down the gauntlet, TP 12U ‘AA’ reliever Avi dispatched the East York 12U ‘AA’ batting order in 1-2-3 fashion in the top of the fourth inning with a pair of fly outs and a groundout that kept the Bulldogs offense in the dawg house.

With no desire to be upstaged, East York 12U ‘AA’ reliever Brayden L replied in kind during the bottom of the fourth frame by retiring the TP 12U ‘AA’ batters with 1-2-3 efficiency. Brayden L utilized a groundout, pop out and a devilish strikeout to keep TP off the bases and the scoreboard.

In a solid outing, East York 12U ‘AA’ reliever Brayden L (11) stymied TP 12U ‘AA’ over the course of two adept innings. Brayden L surrendered only one run while racking up three strikeouts versus TP.

In the top portion of the fifth, East York 12U ‘AA’ threatened following a leadoff walk by Rory. 

Refusing to dance around the mulberry bush, TP 12U ‘AA’ reliever Avi hooked up with first baseman Hudson on a succulent 1-3 pickoff that left Rory in the dust.

After surviving the initial pickoff play by TP, East York 12U ‘AA’ baserunner Rory (16) would not be so fortunate when he was unceremoniously picked off on the very next TP pickoff manoeuvre in the top of the fifth inning.

With TP first baseman Hudson (18), TP reliever Avi (2) catches an eight mile high pop out for the second out in the fifth frame.

Avi followed up that big play by reeling in an eight mile high pop up off the bat of Hudson to tally the second out.

Not to be denied, Arley kept the pressure on the TP defense by stroking a two out double.

Keeping the poker in the fire, Arley (4) delivers a two out double for East York 12U ‘AA’ in the fifth inning.

With mettle and unbridled tenacity, TP 12U ‘AA’ reliever Avi (2) pitched two scoreless innings against East York 12U ‘AA’.

With no desire to shilly-shally any longer, Avi rang up a Nasty Canasta strikeout to end the Bulldogs mutiny in the fifth frame.

Displaying a combination of gumption and spunk, East York 12U ‘AA’ reliever Keira retired the TP 12U ‘AA’ batting order in 1-2-3 style in the bottom half of the fifth inning with two groundouts and a line out that kept TP off the scoring ledger.

East York 12U ‘AA’ tacked on an insurance run in the top of the sixth to solidify their plurality at 11-5.

After reaching base on a dropped third strike to open the inning, Kiyan turned on the afterburners and swiped his way around the horn to third base with a pair of derring-do steals.

As TP 12U ‘AA’ third baseman Dominic (24) reaches for the throw, East York 12U ‘AA’ baserunner Kiyan (18) completes a derring-do steal of third in the top portion of the sixth inning.

Following a walk and stolen base by Kate (14) that put two Bulldogs on base, Keira delivered a one out RBI hit that moved Kate over to third, and brought Kiyan homeward with an East York run.

With backbone, TP 12U ‘AA’ reliever Dylan rang up two strikeouts and a pop out to cease the East York disobedience in the sixth frame.

With pluck, TP 12U ‘AA’ reliever Dylan (8) utilized a pair of strikeouts and a pop out to pull the plug on the East York 12U ‘AA’ dissent in the sixth frame.

Down 11-5, Toronto Playgrounds donned their rally caps in the bottom half of the sixth on a mission to change their fate in the time continuum.

Following a pair of leadoff walks by Eli and Wilt, Dominic drew a walk that loaded the bases.

Cool as a Sweet Success cucumber, East York 12U ‘AA’ reliever Keira chalked up a pop out, fly out and a strikeout to end TP 12U ‘AA”s valiant comeback bid and seal the deal on a hard fought victory by the Bulldogs.
