TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS TAME THE BULLDOGS TO CAPTURE THE TORONTO BASEBALL ASSOCIATION (TBA) 11U ‘A’ CHAMPIONSHIP PRIZE AT TOPHAM PARK. AS THEIR REWARD, TP 11U ‘A’ REP IS THE TBA’s REPRESENTATIVE AT THE 2025 BASEBALL ONTARIO (OBA) 11U ‘A’ REP PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNEY IN BRANTFORD.

Beneath a hazy ceiling of sunny and humid skies, the Toronto Playgrounds 11U ‘A’ defeated the East York 11U ‘A’ Bulldogs 5-0 in a seven inning affair this afternoon at Topham Park to win the 2025 Toronto Baseball Association (TBA) 11U ‘A’ Rep Tournament Championship Game.
Here’s a brief recap of the championship proceedings:
- TP 11U ‘A’ staked itself to an early 1-0 advantage in the top portion of the first inning.
- After a leadoff single and stolen base, Kaden (0) took advantage of an East York wild pitch to hustle into optimal scoring position at third base.
- Rudy (10) followed with a RBI groundout that brought Kaden home with the opening run of the championship tête-à-tête.
- On a mission, TP 11U ‘A’ starter Milo (24) retired East York 11U in 1-2-3 fashion in the bottom of the first frame with a pair of line outs and a groundout to keep the Bulldogs offense in the dawg house.
- TP 11U ‘A’ starter Milo stymied the Bulldogs with 1-2-3 efficiency in the bottom half of the second courtesy of a groundout and strikeout.
- In the top of the third, Toronto Playgrounds added a run to its Cayman Islands offshore account to extend its lead to 2-0.
- Following a two out walk and stolen base by Rowan (23), Kaden delivered a clutch RBI hit that allowed Rowan to score a TP run.
- East York 11U threatened in the bottom of the third frame.
- After William (5) reached base on a hit by pitch to open the inning, Basil (4) stroked a single that put two Bulldogs on the dancefloor.
- With runners on third and second, TP 11U ‘A’ starter Milo rang up three Nasty Canasta strikeouts that kept the Bulldogs off the scoring ledger and vanquished East York’s civil disobedience in the third inning.
- Throwing down the gauntlet, Toronto Playgrounds scored a pair in the top of the fourth inning to stretch their plurality to 4-0.
- After connecting for a leadoff double, Paul (77) took full measure of a Bulldogs wild pitch to motor over to third base.
- Arlo (13) followed with RBI single that brought Paul homeward with a TP run.
- After Whit (16) reached base on a hit by pitch, both Arlo and Whit took advantage of another East York wild pitch to whisk respectively over to third and second base.
- Cordell (44) followed with a RBI groundout that allowed Arlo to come home to roost with another TP 11U ‘A’ run.
- Taking care of business, TP 11U ‘A’ starter Milo utilized a strikeout, line out and a groundout to subdue the Bulldogs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
- Toronto Playgrounds threatened again in the top half of the fifth frame.
- Following a leadoff walk by Jack (11) and a single by Milo, Rowan drew a walk that loaded the bases.
- With true grit, East York 11U reliever Rowan (99) tallied a pop out and a double play to extinguish the TP 11U ‘A’ sedition in the firth inning.
- TP 11U ‘A’ reliever Rudy entered the fray in the bottom of the fifth to subdue a Bulldogs threat, courtesy of a double play and a strikeout.
- Toronto Playgrounds tacked on an insurance run in the top of the sixth inning to secure their upper hand at 5-0.
- After a leadoff single, Paul took advantage of passed ball and a stolen base to reach third base.
- With one out, Arlo stroked a RBI groundout that brought Paul home with a TP run.
- In the bottom of the sixth, TP 11U ‘A’ reliever Rudy chalked up pop out, strikeout and a groundout to pacify the East York 11U batting order.
- Refusing to dance around the mulberry bush, TP 11U ‘A’ reliever Rudy sandwiched a pop out between a pair of groundouts to retire the Bulldogs in 1-2-3 style in the bottom portion of the seventh inning and seal the deal on TP’s championship win.
- In a stellar effort, TP 11U ‘A’ starter Milo and reliever Rudy combined to pitch seven shutout innings against East York 11U.
- Milo pitched four solid innings, where he allowed only four hits and rang up five strikeouts versus the Bulldogs to pick up the championship win.
- Meanwhile, Rudy threw three stouthearted innings against East York, where he surrendered no hits, while ringing up two strikeouts.
With their victory over the Bulldogs, TP 11U ‘A’ is the TBA’s representative at the 2025 Baseball Ontario (OBA) Provincial 11U ‘A’ Rep Tournament in Brantford.
After finishing their TBA 11U ‘A’ regular season in first place with a stellar 16-2 record, TP 11U ‘A’ earned a bye in the first round of the 2025 TBA 11U ‘A’ Rep Tournament playoffs.
In an epic tooth and nail semi-final battle yesterday morning, TP 11U ‘A’ prevailed in a edge of your seat 6½ inning 9-8 victory over the Royal York 11U ‘A’ Cardinals.
With the proceedings deadlocked at 8-8 in the bottom of the fifth, Kaden reached base on a hit by pitch to begin the inning.
Following a deft theft of second by Kaden, Rudy advanced him over to third base with a groundout.
After Paul reached base on a hit by pitch that put two ducks on the pond, Arlo delivered a one out RBI single that brought Kaden home with TP 11U ‘A’s go ahead run.
In the top half the sixth inning, Royal York 11U ‘A’ refused to go down without a fight as Mallory (29) and Liam (15) garnered respective walks that put a pair of Cardinals on base.
With one out and Royal York runners on third and second, TP 11U ‘A’ reliever Rudy rang up a strikeout and a pop out to terminate the Cardinals rally bid and bring the curtain down on TP’s slender tenderloin semi-final game win.
With their hard fought victory over the Cardinals, TP 11U ‘A’ punched its ticket into the championship round of the TBA tournament, with a showdown against the East York 11U ‘A’ Bulldogs for all the marbles.
