Beneath a blanket of cool and genteel summer skies, the Toronto Playgrounds 12U ‘AA’ defeated the Leaside 12U ‘AA’ Leafs 5-3 in a 6½ inning contest tonight at Howard Talbot Park to win the 2025 Toronto Baseball Association (TBA) 12U ‘AA’ Rep Tournament Championship Game.
Here’s a brief recap of the championship game:
- Toronto Playgrounds scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning.
- Bear (13) slashed a RBI triple down the right field line to bring home TP 12U ‘AA”s first run of the game.
- Hudson (18) hit a groundout to bring home another TP run in the first frame.
- With the proceedings tied at 2-2, TP snapped the deadlock in the bottom portion of the fifth inning.
- Hudson brought in the go ahead run with a RBI double.
- Eli (7) followed with a RBI single that gave TP 12U ‘AA’ a 4-2 lead.
- TP 12U ‘AA’ starter Wilt (3) stymied Leaside over five solid innings to lead the team to the TBA championship win. Wilt surrendered two runs, while issuing no walks and striking out nine Leafs.
- With a dash of relish and a dollop of mustard, TP 12U ‘AA’ reliever Dominic (24) pitched two strong innings to earn the save and seal the deal on the championship victory.
- TP 12U ‘AA’ collected twelve hits against Leaside.
- Cleanup hitter Hudson sparked the TP attack by going 1 for 3 at the dish, with two RBI’s.
- Julian (26) and Wyatt (1) contributed three hits each versus the Leafs.
- TP 12U ‘AA’ put in a stellar defensive effort against Leaside, by not committing a single error during the proceedings.
With their victory over the Leafs, TP 12U ‘AA’ is the TBA’s representative at the 2025 Baseball Ontario (OBA) Provincial 12U ‘AA’ Rep Tournament in Markham.
The Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Association (TPBA) wishes to congratulate Co-Head Coaches Matt Marstrom and Jordan Pettle; Assistant Coaches Dan Kuchar; Julian Lorenzo and Jeff Vila; Team Manager Sami Kuchar; and all the players of the TP 12U ‘AA’ Rep Team for attaining championship glory at the 2025 TBA 12U ‘AA’ Rep Tournament.
The TPBA also wishes to commend all the TP 12U ‘AA’ coaches, players, parents and family members for representing the core values of TPBA program with honour, dignity and professionalism both on and off the diamond at the weekend TBA tourney and throughout the long baseball season.
