Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Receives Nike Community Impact Fund × Jamaal Magloire Foundation Grant

Toronto Playgrounds Baseball is proud to announce that we have been selected as a recipient of the Nike Community Impact Fund × Jamaal Magloire Foundation grant, receiving $5,000 to help remove barriers to participation and create more equitable opportunities for youth through baseball!

This funding represents more than just a financial investment, it is an investment in young people, in community, and in the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to experience the confidence, belonging, and lifelong benefits that sport can provide.

The grant will directly support two important initiatives:

  • The Help a Kid Get in the Game Fund, which provides registration assistance to families facing financial barriers, ensuring that cost is never the reason a child is unable to participate.
  • The continued growth of Toronto Playgrounds Girls Baseball, helping us expand opportunities for girls to discover, develop, and thrive in baseball through dedicated programming and new participation pathways.

Over the past year, Toronto Playgrounds has made a significant commitment to growing girls baseball. From launching our inaugural Girls Outdoor Academy to fielding our first-ever team at the Ontario Girls Baseball Tournament, we continue to build an environment where girls feel welcomed, supported, and empowered to play the game they love.

At the same time, our Help a Kid Get in the Game Fund has allowed more young people to access organized baseball regardless of their financial circumstances. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to experience the friendships, confidence, and life skills that come from being part of a team.

This grant will help us continue building on that vision by reducing financial barriers, increasing access, and ensuring that more youth across our community can take the field.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Nike Community Impact Fund and the Jamaal Magloire Foundation for recognizing the importance of community sport and for investing in organizations that are creating meaningful opportunities for young people.

We are also incredibly grateful to our volunteers, coaches, families, players, donors, and community partners. Your ongoing support makes this work possible, and this recognition belongs to our entire Toronto Playgrounds community.

Together, we’re creating equitable opportunities through sport and we’re just getting started.
