WITH THE NAIL BITING SEMI-FINAL ELIMINATION CONTEST DEADLOCKED AT 4-4, TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS SCORE A DRAMATIC PAIR OF RUNS IN THE BOTTOM OF THE SIXTH INNING TO PREVAIL OVER THE MAJORS. WITH THEIR THRILL HILL VICTORY, TP 12U ‘AA’ PUNCH THEIR TICKET INTO THE 2026 TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS BASEBALL ASSOCIATION MOTHER’S DAY CLASSIC TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP GAME AGAINST THE NORTH YORK 12U ‘AA’ BLUES.

Beneath a genteel ceiling of cool and sunny skies, the Toronto Playgrounds 12U ‘AA’ edged the Mississauga 12U T2 6-4 in a thrilling six inning 2026 Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Association (TPBA) Mother’s Day Classic Tournament Semi-Final Elimination Game this afternoon at Christie Pits Diamond 2.

With the proceedings deadlocked 4-4, TP 12U ‘AA’ took the bull by the horns in the bottom half of the sixth inning.

After Emmett (4) stroked a one out single, Jack (11) followed suit with a hit that put two ducks on the pond.

Following a well executed double steal that moved Emmett and Jack respectively over to third and second base, Milo (24) stepped into the batter’s box and cranked a two RBI triple that brought Emmett and Jack home with TP 12U ‘AA”s semi-final elimination game winning runs.

With their hard fought victory over the Majors, TP 12U ‘AA’ advanced into the championship round of the 2026 TPBA Mother’s Day Classic Tournament, with a showdown against the North York 12U ‘AA’ Blues for all the marbles.

In the top portion of the first inning, Mississauga 12U T2 drew first blood when they scored a pair to take an early 2-0 lead.

Following a leadoff single, Carter (27) turned on the afterburners and brazenly swiped his way around the horn to third base. During his steal of third, Carter took advantage of a TP error to hustle home with the opening run of the game.

After reaching base with a single, Owen (50) followed suit by rattling the TP defense with a pair of derring-do steals that put him into optimal scoring position at third base.

Subsequently, with one out,  Owen took advantage of a 2-3 dropped third play to Molly (21) to zoom home with another run for the Majors.

With resolve, TP 12U ‘AA’ starter Whit (16) tallied two strikeouts and a groundout to end Mississauga’s insurgency in the first frame.

Toronto Playgrounds threatened in the bottom of the first inning after a leadoff hit and stolen base by Whit.

Nonplussed, Mississauga 12U T2 starter Luke (17) quickly diffused the TP threat with a fly out, strikeout and a groundout in the first frame.

Mississauga 12U T2 threatened in the top of the second inning following a leadoff single and stolen base by Logan (2).

Cool as a cucumber, TP 12U ‘AA’ starter Whit utilized a groundout, strikeout and pop out to end the Majors sedition in the second frame.

With grit, Mississauga 12U T2 starter Luke retired TP 12U ‘AA’ in 1-2-3 fashion in the bottom half of the second inning with a fly out and two groundouts.

In the top of the third inning, Mississauga 12U T2 added another run to their Cayman Island bitcoin account to stretch their upper hand to 3-0.

After stroking a leadoff single, Carter flexed his Grand Theft acumen to move over to third base with a pair of steals.

With opportunity knocking, Owen followed with a RBI single that brought Carter homeward with a Majors run.

On a mission, TP 12U ‘AA’ starter Whit sandwiched a pair of groundouts between a strikeout to subdue the Mississauga mutiny in the third frame.

The Toronto Playgrounds offense stirred to life in the bottom of the third inning when they scored a pair of runs that trimmed the shortfall to 3-2.

Following a leadoff hit and stolen base by Emmett, Whit stroked a two out single that put two TP runners on the dancefloor. 

Arlo followed with a clutch RBI single that moved Whit to third and brought Emmett home with TP’s first run of the game.

With runners on third and first, Kaden (0) stroked a grace under pressure RBI hit that advanced Arlo to third and allowed Whit to score another TP run.

Unflinching, Mississauga 12U T2 starter Luke tallied a line out, fly out and a groundout to end the TP 12U ‘AA’ subversion in the third frame.

Not to be outdone, Mississauga 12U T2 answered back with a run in the top portion of the fourth inning to pump up their advantage to 4-2.

After hitting a leadoff single, Logan made like Bennie and the Jets as he brazenly stole a pair of bases to reach third base.

With one out, Maximus (7) hit into a groundout that allowed Logan to zoom home with a Majors run.

Imperturbable, TP 12U ‘AA’ reliever Kaden racked up a pop out, groundout and a strikeout to put a kibosh on the Mississauga’s treachery in the fourth frame.

Toronto Playgrounds rallied with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning to trim the gap to 4-3.

Following a leadoff hit by Cordell (44), Rudy (10) stroked a single that put two TP runners on the basepaths.

With TP runners at second and first, Paul (77) hit into a fielder’s choice that erased Rudy at second base, and brought Cordell home and make it a one run affair.

Unruffled, Mississauga 12U T2 starter Luke tallied two groundouts and a fly out to snuff out the TP 12U ‘AA’ revolt in the fourth frame.

Mississauga 12U T2 threatened again in the top of the fifth inning after Owen led off the frame with a single.

However, the TP defense rose up to the occasion and turned a crisp 4-6-3 double play on Cyprian’s (99) sharp cheddar cheese ground ball.

With two outs TP 12U ‘AA’ reliever Kaden chipped in with a sizzling strikeout that retired the Majors in 1-2-3 fashion and off the scoring ledger in the fifth frame.

Refusing to go quietly into the afternoon sun, TP 12U ‘AA’ scored a run in the bottom of the fifth that tied up the proceedings at 4-4.

After a one out single by Kaden, Valentine delivered an integral single that advanced Kaden to third base.

With carpe diem resolve, Cordell followed with a 4-3 groundout that moved Valentine over to second base, and brought Kaden home with the game tying run.

In a stouthearted effort, Mississauga 12U T2 starter Luke racked up a pop out and two groundouts to extinguish the TP 12U ‘AA’ coup d’etat in the fifth frame.

Mississauga 12U T2 threatened to snap the 4-4 deadlock  in the top half of the sixth inning following a one out walk by Jackson (13).

Like clockwork, the TP 12U ‘AA’ defense rose up to the challenge in grand fashion as they turned a highlight reel 5-3 double play that ended the Majors overthrow attempt in the sixth frame.

In a fearless foray on the hill, TP 12U ‘AA’ reliever Kaden threw three stellar innings against Mississauga 12U T2. Kaden surrendered only one run, while striking out two, and coaxing the Majors to hit into two momentum killing double plays.

And it was at this juncture in the proceedings where Toronto Playgrounds came up for their at bats in the bottom of the sixth frame and came face to face with their moment with destiny in the time continuum.
