IN A TIGHT CONTEST, THE BULLDOGS EXPLODE FOR EIGHT RUNS IN THE FIFTH FRAME TO PULL AWAY FOR THE TBA 13U ‘AA’ GAME VICTORY OVER TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS AT CHRISTIE PITS

Under a genteel ceiling of cool and overcast skies, the East York 13U ‘AA’ Bulldogs defeated the Toronto Playgrounds 13U ‘AA’ 12-4 in an entertaining six inning Toronto Baseball Association (TBA) 13U ‘AA’ Rep Game tonight at Christie Pits Diamond 2.

In the top parameter of the first inning, East York 13U ‘AA” jumped out to an early 2-0 lead.

Setting the dinner table, Brayden (93) led off the proceedings with a sizzling double for the Bulldogs.

Licking his chops, Rory P. (16) followed with a RBI single that brought Brayden home with the opening run of the game.

After his deft theft of second base, Rory P. took advantage of a TP 13U ‘AA’ error on the play to advance over to third.

Sensing opportunity, Lucas A. (25) hit into a 5-3 groundout that allowed Rory P. to motor home with another East York run.

With pugnacity, TP 13U ‘AA’ starter Rory (25) sandwiched a pair of groundouts between a fly out to end the Bulldogs uprising in the first frame.

Toronto Playgrounds quickly answered back with a run in the bottom of the first inning to trim the shortfall to 2-1.

After reaching base on a fielder’s choice, Dylan (8) utilized his Grand Theft acumen to move into scoring position at second base.

Taking the bull by the horns, Julian (26) followed with a scorching one out RBI double that brought Dylan home with TP 13U ‘AA”s first run of the game.

With temerity, East York 13U ‘AA’ starter Ashton (56) tallied a pair of groundouts and a strikeout to diffuse the TP insurgency in the first frame.

In lickety-split fashion, East York 13U ‘AA’ replied with a run in the top of the second inning to extend their upper hand to 3-1.

Following a leadoff hit by Andrew (6), Lucas Z. (7) stroked a one out single that put two Bulldogs on the dancefloor.

After a TP wild pitch that allowed Andrew and Lucas Z. to move respectively over to third and second, Ashton (56) hit into a 4-3 groundout that advanced Lucas Z. to third and allowed Andrew to score an East York run.

With moxie, TP 13U ‘AA’ starter Rory notched a pop out and a pair of groundouts to curtail the Bulldogs sedition in the second frame.

In the bottom portion of the second inning, TP 13U ‘AA’ threatened following a walk and and advancement to second base (courtesy of a Bulldogs faux pas) by Sebastian (05).

Cool as a cucumber, East York 13U ‘AA’ starter Ashton reeled off a strikeout and two pop outs to vanquish the threat and keep TP off the scoring ledger in the second frame.

With pluck, TP 13U ‘AA’ reliever Nathan (27) dispatched East York 13U ‘AA’ in 1-2-3 fashion in the top of the third inning with a pair of debonair groundouts and a pop out that kept the potent Bulldog offense in the dawg house.

TP 13U ‘AA’ threatened in the bottom of the third inning following a walk and a steal of second base by Ellis (44).

Throwing down the gauntlet, East York 13U ‘AA’ starter Ashton rang up a fly out, strikeout and a groundout to terminate the TP civil disobedience in the third frame.

In the top half of the fourth inning, East York 13U ‘AA’ added a run to stretch their plurality to 4-1.

After garnering a leadoff walk, Wyatt (14) made like Bennie and the Jets as he brazenly swiped his way around the horn to third base.

Keeping his eye on the prize,  Kiyan (18) hit into a one out 4-3 groundout that allowed Wyatt to motor home with a Bulldogs run.

With gumption, TP 13U ‘AA’ reliever Nathan chalked up a strikeout and two groundouts to terminate the East York insubordination in the fourth frame.

With no inclination to go quietly into the night, TP 13U ‘AA’ found its cojones in the bottom vector of the fourth inning as they rallied back with a pair of runs that cut the margin to 4-3.

Following a leadoff single and stolen base by Julian, Wilt (99) drew a walk that put two ducks on the pond.

Staring at the Mandarin Buffet of possibilities before him, Nathan delivered a RBI single that advanced Wilt to third, and allowed Julian to score a TP run.

After Owen (14) garnered a walk that loaded the bases, Grayson (12) hit a sacrifice fly to centre field for TP 13U ‘AA’ that allowed Wilt to score and make it a one run affair.

With one out, East York 13U ‘AA’ reliever Brayden (93) entered the fray in the fourth frame to curtail the TP resistance with a fly out and a groundout.

Clinging to a slender tenderloin 4-3 lead, East York 13U ‘AA’ put the pedal to metal in the top portion of the fifth inning as they exploded for eight insurance runs to jack their upper hand to 12-3.

After stroking a leadoff hit, Jimmy (27) stole second base with aplomb.

Lucas Z. followed with a RBI single that brought Jimmy home with a Bulldogs run.

Following a single by Ashton and a walk by Cole (44) that loaded the bases, Brayden (93) stroked a RBI hit that allowed Lucas Z. to score.

After a bases loaded RBI walk by Rory P. that brought Ashton home with a Bulldogs run, Lucas A. connected for a two RBI single that advanced Rory P. to second, and brought Cole and Brayden  home to roost with two more East York runs.

After Wyatt hit into a fielder’s choice that erased Lucas A. at second and moved Rory P, over to third base, Arley (4) hit a one out RBI single that advanced Wyatt to second, and allowed Rory P. to score another Bulldogs run.

Subsequently, after Kiyan reached base on a fielder’s choice that erased Wyatt at third, Brayden L. (11) capped off East York’s BIG GULP fifth inning with a clutch two out Nasty Canasta two RBI double that brought Arley and Kiyan home with two additional runs for East York.

With true grit, TP 13U ‘AA’ reliever Sebastian tallied two groundouts versus the Bulldogs in the fifth frame.

Refusing to throw in the towel, TP 13U ‘AA’ threatened in the bottom of the fifth inning following double by Ellis.

With no desire to dance around the mulberry bush, East York 13U ‘AA’ reliever Brayden nullified the TP treachery in the fifth frame with two strikeouts and a pop out that kept them off the scoresheet.

Exercising patience at the dish, East York 13U ‘AA’ threatened again in the top of the sixth inning.

However, TP 13U ‘AA’ southpaw relievers Ellis and Grayson combined for a pair of groundouts and a fly out to nip and tuck the Bulldogs mutiny in the bud.

Down 12-3, TP 13U ‘AA’ donned their rally caps as they came up for their last at bats in the bottom half of the sixth inning, determined to change their fate

With ice in his veins, East York 13U ‘AA’ reliever Brayden chalked up a groundout and two strikeouts to snuff out TP’s comeback bid and seal the deal on the Bulldogs victory.
