Toronto Playgrounds Rep Baseball
Toronto Playgrounds offers Rep baseball across several age divisions and is committed to creating more opportunities for our players to grow and develop. As we expand Rep programming in all eligible age groups, the number of teams offered each season is determined by the TP Board of Directors. Our A and AA teams compete in the Toronto Baseball Association (TBA), while our AAA teams play in the Elite Baseball League of Ontario (EBLO). All home games and most in-season practices are held at Christie Pits.
About Rep Baseball
Rep baseball is the highest level of competition and commitment in Ontario.
A, AA, and AAA are the tiered levels Toronto Playgrounds offers at the Rep level, though not every tier is available at every age group. Each year, the TP Board of Directors reviews the needs of our Rep community to ensure the teams offered reflect the interests and opportunities of our players.
Players must earn a roster spot through the annual tryout process.
Tryouts & Training
Rep tryouts are scheduled in accordance with the OBA calendar.
Tryout details will be posted on the Toronto Playgrounds website closer to the dates. Be sure to check back here closer to the summer & fall.
Fall Ball games and practices usually run until Thanksgiving weekend and are dependent on the Head Coach’s preference.
In the offseason most teams practice twice per week, with training in baseball facilities beginning early November.
Outdoor practices begin once weather conditions and permits allow.
Season Timeline
The Rep season runs from early May through mid-August.
Playoffs take place in mid-August.
Teams that win their playoffs - or, in some cases, finish second - advance to the Provincial Championships which can happen anytime from late August - Labour Day Weekend.
Games, Practices & Travel
Rep players generally play two games per week within their league loop.
Rep baseball requires a greater time commitment and more travel.
Teams typically practice twice per week.
Tournaments & Coaching
Rep teams participate in several weekend tournaments throughout the season (some requiring hotels).
All Toronto Playgrounds Rep teams are coached by dedicated volunteer coaches.
Multi Sport Athletes
Toronto Playgrounds supports and encourages multi-sport athletes, recognizing the benefits of cross-training and reduced burnout. During the winter months, players are encouraged to attend as many baseball practices as possible, with flexibility for other sport commitments where appropriate. Beginning April 1, Rep baseball becomes the priority sport, and consistent attendance is essential to player development and team success. Families should be prepared for this commitment, as coaches generally expect players to attend at least 80% of games and practices from April onward, with winter attendance expectations set by each Head Coach based on team philosophy and individual circumstances.
