IN A NITTY GRITTY AFFAIR, THE BOMBERS PREVAIL OVER TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS IN A 2026 EBA 13U SELECT LOOP GAME AT CHRISTIE PITS

Beneath a soothing canopy of warm and tranquil skies, the Bloordale 13U Bombers defeated the Toronto Playgrounds 13U 8-4 in a five inning Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) 13U Select Loop Game tonight at Christie Pits Diamond 2.

Bloordale 13U threatened early in the top portion of the first inning.

After garnering a walk, Blake (5) made like a bandito as he swiped his way around the horn to get into optimal scoring position at third base.

Throwing down the gauntlet, TP 13U starter Jacob B. (2) rang up two Nasty Canasta strikeouts and a groundout to terminate the Bombers insurgency in the first frame.

Not to be outdone, Toronto Playgrounds also threatened in the bottom of the first inning.

Following a leadoff walk by Emile (5), Casey (34) drew a walk that allowed TP 13U to put two ducks on the pond.

Unfazed, Bloordale 13U starter Ayden (10) utilized a groundout, pop out, and a strikeout to put an end to the TP uprising in the first frame.

On a mission, Bloordale 13U drew first blood when they scored a run in the top of the second inning to stake themselves to a 1-0 lead.

After a leadoff single, Atticus (55) turned on the jets as he stole a pair of bases with aplomb to move over to third.

Licking his chops, Reid (13) hit into a 4-3 groundout that brought Atticus home with the first run of the proceedings.

With tenacity, TP 13U reliever Milo (12) chalked up a groundout, strikeout and a pop out to end the Bombers sedition in the second frame.

A feisty Toronto Playgrounds squad threatened again in the bottom half of the second inning.

Following a walk by Jacob B., Milo reached base on a hit by pitch that put a pair of TP 13U runners on base.

After TP executed a daring double steal that put runners at third and second base, Bloordale 13U starter Ayden dialed up a pop out and two groundouts that put a kibosh on TP’s subversion in the second frame.

Taking flight, Bloordale 13U tallied three runs in the top of the third inning to extend their upper hand to 4-0.

With resolve, Hue smacked a  two out double for the Bombers.

Blake followed and cranked a clutch RBI triple that allowed Hue to motor home with a Bloordale run.

With the wind in their sails, Ayden delivered a RBI double that brought Blake home with another Bombers run.

For the pièce de résistance, Ricco capped off Bloordale’s big inning with a RBI single that allowed Ayden to score.

With backbone, TP 13U reliever Cal (3) notched two smokin’ strikeouts and a groundout to put a halt to the Bombers coup d’etat in the third frame.

Refusing to go quietly in the din of night, TP 13U answered back in lickety-split fashion with a two spot in the bottom parameter of the third inning that trimmed the shortfall to 4-2.

Following a one out single, Emile threw caution to the wind as he boldly stole second base.

After Hunter (15) hit into a groundout that advanced Emile over to third, Sydney (13) worked the count in her favour and drew a walk that put two TP runners on base.

Following a theft of second by Sydney, Casey delivered stepped up to the plate and delivered a grace under pressure two out two RBI single that allowed Emile and Sydney to come home to roost with a pair of TP 13U runs.

With spunk, Bloordale 13U starter Ayden tallied a pair of groundouts to stymie the TP disobedience in the third frame.

In the top of the fourth inning, Bloordale 13U replied with a run to stretch their plurality to 5-2.

After a leadoff hit by Reid, Owen (6) drew a walk that put two Bombers on the tarmac.

With runners on third and second, Theo (4) delivered a clutch RBI single that advances Owen to third and brought Reid home with a Bombers run.

With a dash of lemon pepper and a dollop of Dijon mustard, TP 13U reliever Sandor (22) rang up three searing strikeouts that extinguished the Bloordale revolt in the fourth frame.

With cojones, Toronto Playgrounds answered back with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to close the gap to 5-4.

After connecting for a leadoff hit, Darien (21) turned on the afterburners and swiped his way over to second base.

Cal followed with a RBI single that brought Darien home with a TP 13U run.

With Cal on third base following a pair of derring-do steals, Jacob B. hit into a 4-3 groundout that allowed Cal to hustle home and score another TP run.

In a spirited effort, Bloordale 13U reliever Bennett racked up two groundouts and a fly out to disperse the TP 13U upheaval in the fourth frame.

Putting the pedal to the metal, Bloordale counterpunched with three insurance runs in the top of the fifth inning to position their catbird seat at 8-4.

After a one out walk by Hue, Blake reached base on a hit by pitch. Ayden followed suit with a walk that allowed the Bombers to load the bases.

With opportunity knocking, Rico delivered a two RBI single that brought Hue and Blake homeward with a pair of Bloordale runs. Ayden and Rico would respectively advance to third and second base on the play.

Atticus followed and hit into a groundout that moved Rico over to third and allow Ayden to score another Bombers run.

In a lionhearted effort, TP 13U reliever Casey tallied three groundouts to end the Bloordale putsch in the fifth frame.

Proudly donning their rally caps, TP 13U came up for the final at bats in the bottom half of the fifth inning determined to rally back from a 8-4 deficit.

Following a single, Emile fanned the comeback hopes of the TP faithful sitting in the bleacher seats with two rip-roaring steals that moved him over to third base.

With no desire to pussyfoot around the mulberry bush, Bloordale 13U reliever Blake chalked up a groundout and two strikeouts to bring the curtain down on the TP 13U rally bid and seal the deal on the Bombers victory.
