DESPITE FALLING SHORT OF THEIR ULTIMATE GOAL AGAINST THE ROYAL YORK 18U ‘AA’ CARDINALS  IN THE BRAMPTON MINOR BASEBALL INCORPORATED (BMBI) CHAMPIONSIP GAME, THE TORONTO PLAYGRONDS 18U ‘AA’ TEAM HAD A FUN AND REWARDING WEEKEND IN BRAMPTON

With fervour and intestinal fortitude, the Toronto Playgrounds 18U ‘AA’ finished as the Finalists at the 2026 Brampton Minor Baseball Incorporated (BMBI) 18U ‘AA’ Tournament this afternoon at Creditview Sandalwood Park.

Despite falling short of their ultimate goal in the championship game with an 11-0 loss to the Royal York 18U ‘AA’ Cardinals, TP 18U ‘AA’ nevertheless had a fun and rewarding experience at the Brampton tourney.

TP 18U ‘AA’ began their journey at the BMBI tourney on Friday night with an impressive 10-2 victory over the Royal York 17U ‘AA’ Cardinals.

On Saturday, TP18U ‘AA’ started their day with a dramatic come from behind 9-5 win over the Brampton 18U ‘AA’ Royals to earn their second round robin game victory.

Toronto Playgrounds capped off their Saturday with a rough and rowdy 15-10 victory over the Scarborough 18U Stingers to capture their third round robin game win.

With an unblemished 3-0 round robin record, TP 18U earned a berth in the BMBI tourney playoff elimination round.

In a nail biting 6½ inning semi-final elimination game this morning, TP 18U ‘AA’ edged the Newmarket 18U ‘AA’ 3-2. With their slender tenderloin win over the Hawks, TP 18U ‘AA’ punched their ticket into the BMBI championship game, with a showdown for all the marbles against the Royal York 18U ‘AA’ Cardinals.

The Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Association (TPBA) wishes to congratulate the Head Coach Chad Thompson; Assistant Coach David Hatch; the players of the TP 18U ‘AA’ Rep Team; and Team Managers Ester Klimitz and Dora Yeoh for their finalist showing at the 2026 BMBI 18U ‘AA’ Tournament.

The TPBA also wishes to commend all the TP 18U ‘AA’ coaches, players, parents and family members for representing the core values of TPBA program with honour, dignity and professionalism both on and off the diamond at the weekend BMBI tourney.
