Beneath a canopy of succulent blue and sunny skies, Toronto Playgrounds 11U ‘A’ Rep edged Whitby 11U ‘A’ Rep 7-6 in an electric seven inning semi-final elimination game this afternoon at the 2025 Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Association (TPBA) 11U & Under Tournament at Christie Pits Diamond 3.
TP 11U ‘A’ threatened in the top half of the first inning following a leadoff walk by Kaden (0) and a single by Paul (77) that put two ducks on the pond.

Paul (77) sparks the TP 11U ‘A’ attack with a single that put two runners on base in the top of the first inning.
Finding his rhythm, Whitby 11U ‘A’ starter Jaxon (19) settled down and tallied a groundout and a pair of strikeouts to quell the TP sedition in the first frame.
In the bottom of the first inning, Whitby 11U ‘A’ drew first blood when they jumped out to an early 1-0 lead.
Colin (8) and Jaxon stroked back to back one out singles that put two Canadians on the base paths.

Unfazed, TP 11U ‘A’ starter Rudy (10) chalked up a groundout, fly out and a strikeout to end the Whitby uprising in the first frame.
Not to be outdone, TP 11U ‘A’ answered back with a two runs in the top of the second inning to take a 2-1 advantage.
After a leadoff walk and stolen base by Benji (15), Jack (11) powered a one out triple that allowed Benji to score TP’s tying run.

Kicking up a plume of dirt, TP 11U ‘A’ baserunner Jack (11) slides into third base to complete a down and dirty RBI triple in the second inning.

With opportunity knocking, Rudy (10) strokes a grace under pressure two out RBI single that gave TP a 2-1 lead in the second frame.
With two outs, Rudy stroked a clutch RBI hit that brought Jack home with TP’s go ahead run.
Unperturbed, Whitby starter Jaxon sandwiched two strikeouts between a pop out to subdue the TP insurgency in the second frame.
In the bottom portion of the second, Whitby 11U ‘A’ countered with a pair of runs to retake the lead 3-2.
After back to back hits by Billy (11) and Nathan (23) to open the inning, Declan (44) singled to load the bases for the Canadians.

With no outs and two aboard, Declan (44) skies a single that allowed Whitby 11U ‘A’ to load the bases in the bottom of the third inning.

Wyatt (89) followed with a RBI hit that advanced Nathan and Declan respectively to third and second base, and allowed Billy to blaze home with Whitby’s game tying run.
With one out and the bases packed tighter than a tin of Bumble Bee sardines, Marcus (15) drew a bases loaded RBI walk that brought Nathan homeward with the Canadians go ahead run.

With one out and the bases loaded, TP 11U ‘A’ catcher Milo (24) steps on home plate to erase Whitby 11U ‘A’ baserunner Declan (44) on a 1-2 putout play in the third inning.

In a nitty gritty effort, TP 11U ‘A’ starter Rudy (10) surrendered four earned runs over two ready steady innings against Whitby 11U ‘A’, while striking out two Canadians,
Cool as a Marketmore 76 cucumber, TP 11U ‘A’ starter Rudy doled up a strikeout, groundout and pop out to extinguish the Whitby bases loaded pickle in the second frame.

Refusing to go quietly into the afternoon sun, TP replied with a run in the top half of the fourth inning to trim the deficit to 6-3.
After a leadoff single and stolen base by Arlo (13), Cordell (44) hit into a 4-3 groundout allowed Arlo to zoom home with a TP run.

Finding the groove, TP 11U ‘A’ reliever Kaden vanquished the existential crisis with a groundout, strikeout and pop out that kept the Canadians off the scoring ledger in the fourth frame.
TP 11U threatened again in the top of the fifth following a single by Whit (16).

In a solid outing, Whitby 11U ‘A’ starter Jaxon (19) stymied TP 11U ‘A’ over the course of five exceptional innings. Jaxson surrendered only three runs, while striking out six TP batters.
Taking care of business, Whitby 11U ‘A’ starter Jaxon chalked up two groundouts and a strikeout to send TP packing in the fifth frame.

With no desire to throw in the towel, TP 11U ‘A’ found their mojo in the top of the sixth inning as they stormed back with three runs to deadlock the affair at 6-6.

In a dramatic play at the dish, TP 11U ‘A’ baserunner Kaden (0) beats the tag of Whitby 11U ‘A’ catcher Jack (31) to score a run in the sixth frame that makes it a one run game.
After a steal of third by Kaden, Paul slashed a RBI single that allowed Kaden to score and make it a one run game.
As Kaden slid into home plate, Paul made the ballsy decision to advance to second base. However, Whitby catcher Jack (31) hurled a lightning throw to Canadians shortstop Kyle (2), who tagged Paul to ring up the 2-6 putout.

With true grit, Whitby 11U ‘A’ reliever Miles rang up a groundout, fly out and strikeout to terminate the TP putsch in the seventh frame.
Proudly donning their rally caps, Whitby 11U ‘A’ came up for their potential last at bats in the bottom of the seventh determined to change their circumstance in the elimination round time continuum.

In a stellar outing, TP 11U ‘A’ reliever Kaden (0) threw four scoreless innings against Whitby 11U ‘A’. Kaden’s stately seven strikeout performance against the Canadians allowed TP to rally back from a 6-2 deficit for the semi-final victory.
With no inclination to pussyfoot around the mulberry bush, TP 11U ‘A’ reliever Kaden chalked up two strikeouts and a pop out to quickly retire the Canadians with 1-2-3 efficiency and seal the deal on their come from behind semi-final victory over Whitby.
